Asahi's bloodlines are medical grade tubing with a variety of models available for most brands of hemodialysis machines. Designed for convenience and safety they are latex free and are available ETO and gamma-sterilized. With color coded injection port makes for easy operation.
Asahi's Cascadeflo™ is a plasma component separator used in conjunction with the plasma separator Plasmaflo™ in double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) systems to remove high molecular-weight substances from separated plasma. DFFP in combination with Plasmaflo™ OP and Cascadeflo™ EC-50W requires no substitution fluid, and therefore there is no risk of infection from a substitution fluid. Available in four different pore sizes.
Cellsorba™ FX is a leukocytapheresis column used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. Cellsorba™ FX selectively removes leukocytes (e.g., lymphocytes, granulocytes, monocytes) implicated in the inflammatory process.
Asahi's hemofilter, the CUREFLO™ is a polysulphone hollow fiber filter for continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) intended for the treatment of patients with renal failure with concomitant severe cardiovascular complications such as cardiac insufficiency and edema, which cannot be sufficiently resolved with intermittent hemodialysis or hemofiltration. The filters used for CRRT can be selected from various materials and surface area models depending on disease type and patient status.
Asahi's EVAL™ EVOH is unique because of its single synthetic polymer membrane having both hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments. With a lower degree of platelet reactivity than other membranes EVAL™ EVOH provides great biocompatibility.
Immusorba™ separators are used in immunoadsorption (IA) systems in conjunction with the plasma separator Plasmaflo to remove antibodies and other pathogenic substances from separated plasma. Therefore, no replacement gluid is required. Average Bead Size is 100 micrometer and pore size of 0.05 micrometer and an adsorbent volume of 350 ml. Immusorba™ TR is an immunoadsorption (IA) column with tryptophan immobilized in polyvinylacohol gel. It is used for the treatment of immune neurological diseases such as Myasthenia Gravis and Guillain-Barré syndrome. The column is specifically designed to remove and adsorb antibodies including anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody or immunocomplexes from separated plasma via the hydrophobic and ionic interaction with tryptophan. Immusorba™ PH is an immunoadsorption (IA) column with phenylalanine immobilized in polyvinylacohol gel. It is used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. The column is specifically designed specifically to remove and adsorb antibodies including anti-DNA receptor antibody or immunocomplexes from separated plasma via the hydrophobic and ionic interaction with phenylalanine.

Asahi's Plasmaflo™ OP is a plasma separator for plasmapheresis. Plasmaflo™ OP separates plasma from the whole blood and is used in therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) and as the first filter in double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP), plasma adsorption (PA), and immunoadsorption (IA). It contains a hydrophilized polyethylene hollow-fiber membrane with a unique pore structure. Selectively removes hepatic toxins, amino acids, coma-producing substances such as ammonia, and various autoantibodies. Plasmaflo-OP™ is available with surface areas of 0.2m , 0.5m , and 0.8m .
The Plasorba™ plasma perfusion column is used in conjunction with a plasma separator for the selective adsorption and removal of bilirubin and bile acid from separated plasma. Plasorba™ uses anion-exchange resin for absorption and thus requires no supplementary plasma. In addition, the low priming volume reduces the physical burden on patients during treatment. Indications for Plasorba™ use are liver disease such as fulminant hepatitis, postoperative hepatic failure, and hyperbilirubinemia.
Mike Jackson Mike is the President of Asahi Kasei Medical America Inc. and is a member of its Board of Directors. Mike's career has spanned over 25 years in all facets of the dialysis industry including research and development, sales management, marketing and administration. Mike has focused Asahi Kasei Medical America Inc. to become a key player in the global strategy for Asahi Kasei Medical based out of Tokyo, Japan. Since joining Asahi Kasei Medical in 2002, Mike gained valuable experience at his position at Terumo Medical of Somerset, New Jersey. Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Eastern Michigan University.

Rheofilter™ is a plasma component separator specifically designed for Rheopheresis™ to treat microcirculatory disorders or impaired microcirculation. The Rheofilter™ is used as part of an extracorporeal double filtration (membrane differential filtration) system in combination with a plasma separator (Plasmaflo™) for selective extracorporeal plasma therapy, e.g. Rheopheresis™. Rheopheresis™ falls under the category of double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP). Rheofilter™ removes fibrinogen and larger molecular weight substances in the treatment of conditions involving microcirculatory disorders (e.g., age-related macular degeneration).

VitabranE™ polysulfone dialyzers have been introduced to deal with the problem of reactive oxygen species by coating the blood side of the membrane with the antioxidant vitamin E. It has been shown that the level of antioxidant activity or vitamin E's ability to scavenge active oxygen within the membrane is very high, with the antioxidant response being site specific at the point of highest free radical formation. VitabranE™ has also been shown to improve the life of red blood cells therefore optimizing EPO usage.
